As you may or may not know, I am a blonde. Well... let's follow the progression of Lizzy's hair (I'm sorry there aren't accompanying pics - they're all out in the storage area and it's just TOO cold to go digging)
Lizzy was born February 5th (HINT HINT) with a mess of black hair. Through the course of her first year, Lizzy's hair grew curly and by her first birthday was actually almost red. As time went on her hair turned fully blonde, and lost it's curl. So that most of her life it was blonde, and stick straight.
When Lizzy was 26, she got pregnant, and had a beautiful little girl. Lizzy's hair, once the baby was born, started turning brown. Lizzy does not LIKE herself with brown hair, so she started coloring it, to keep it it's "natural" color.
When Lizzy was 31 she had another baby, after which her hair grew progressively CURLIER...
Lizzy isn't really sure why she's telling you all this, nor why she is speaking in third person...
Ok... so do you get it? I'm blonde. I do blonde things. In case you have missed one of my blondest moments, go here.
Yesterday, I got an e-card from Mr. B. It was from my favorite e-card site - someecards.com (WARNING - very irreverent site with not so nice humor - so if you get offended easily DON'T go there. And if you do and don't like it, don't say I didn't warn you.)
At any rate, here is the text that accompanied the card:
Message : Sigh
Some days.... I just sent MYSELF this card from YOU!
I guess Alzheimer's has already set in. I LOVE YOU, my sweetheart.
Now, he says it's Alzheimer's, I say it's my blondeness rubbing off. What do you think?
Have you ever had a blonde moment? I had one the other day - was looking around for my cell phone. Um... yeah, I was USING it.
Has your hair changed since you were little? Have you fought it or accepted it?
Do you wrestle with your significant other? Have you ever sustained an injury?
Did you watch the Inauguration stuff yesterday and think "Hm... I wonder how the capital would look decked out in Plaid Ducks?" I might have.......

Lizzy- I did EXACTLY the same thing the other day. I was digging in my purse, moving things around on the car seat--looking for my phone WHICH I WAS TALKING ON. I have gone to get aspirin for someone else, and TAKEN THEM. I once ate a red clear button that a friend handed me, thinking it was a cold pill....she was so mad, because she had been keeping track of that button for weeks to return to me.I ate it...
My hair is naturally light brown, but I have been dying it for years "lighter" to cover the gray. It used to be stick straight, but now has some natural wave to it which I love. People think I am a natural "blonde" because it matches my coloring. Two of my three kids have beautiful dark brown curly hair. I'm so jealous.
Bruce and I don't wrestle.Wait!! nevermind...
ack my hair is a constant battle for me!!! i once was blonde now i'm found...no not really...I longe to be a box blonde of any color i am still tryin to find the right color tho' the one that looks natural which means me going to a light shade of brown ACK!!!! light shade brown i am mortified!
I like my hair. It has always been a very nice brown color. Very deep with golden amd red undertones. And lately, it has been getting THICK! I am happy about that, because I go through cycles where it seems to all fall out at once, and I think I may actually go bald. It's nice and straight too- even when I have bed head, all I have to do is go brush it. Nice.
I am ALWAYS digging for my keys while holding them...or looking for my sunglasses while they rest on my head...or look for my cell while using it.
I was born blonde and still am. My hair was wavy as a child and I hated it. After children, it got curlier, but I did not know because I wore it in a ponytail EVERY DAY!
Now I wear it curly. It used to be short but I haven't had time to get it cut so it's pretty darned long.
The Husband and I wrestle CONSTANTLY but I haven't gotten hurt yet. He is considerably stronger than I.
I watched a lot of the inaugural stuff yesterday and was looking for some plaid...I'd have died if Mrs. Obama wore plaid!
I'm always having blonde moments. Looking for my glasses while they're on my head ... putting the sugar in the fridge and the milk in the cupboard ... trying to make a phonecall with my remote control(that was just a couple of days ago!!) and so on.
My hair was black when I was little. Then it went to a very dark brown with red/gold highlights (all natural). Then I had the twins and got grey hairs. Now it's sort of an auburn ...dyed auburn :-)
Yep, I wrestled with the hubby once and ended up with a bruised bum, because he dumped me on it. :-)
I was absoloutely disgusted that their were no Plaid Ducks in the small part of the Inaugration that I found time to watch. There really should have been Plaid Ducks. Another chance in four years!!!
I have always been a brunette. Maybe it is the Mexican in me! LOL BUT, with each of my kids, my hair has gotten wavier. I also have this flip in the back of my hair, left side that gets worse and worse. Blech.
My hubster and I wrestle but I have never gotten injured. There was this one time though that he purposely gave me this huge hickey. I worked at a bank, it was mid-summer and I had to wear turtlenecks for a week!
hey my sissys bday is on feb fifth!! I was born with jet black hair, then it turned redish brown and then white blonde, then sandy blonde for the majority of my life then i had a kid and it turned VERY dark brown and now i have blonde streaks....lol
If I did not color my hair, it would probably be snow white. I thank my father for that! I, however, don't like the color of it. I always had really dark, dark, brown-blackish hair. I always liked it b/c noone else had that same color. Now, I look at my sister's daughter, who has the same color, and wish for my pretty dark hair back. I can't artificially get it that same color without it looking too fake. Like you can't tell now!! HaHa!!
And yes, I have had injury wrestling with my other. Nothing major, but we did break something my grandmother gave me so I had to hide it everytime she came over!!
I keep some blond in my hair for that very reason.
Ooooh goodness.
Yes...I'm a lifelong Brunette but have had MANY blond Moments
I was white blond as a kid and it gradually got darker after puberty until now I have very, very dark blond hair. Also known as mouse brown. I consider coloring it, but I'm just too lazy to keep it up so I don't. Also, I have the worst memory, ever. As the saying goes, I could forget my head if it weren't attached.
I grew up at the beach so my hair was very very blond, moved to Alaska and hair turned very dark brown quickly.
That's so interesting about your hair changing after childbirth!
My hair (luckily) hasn't changed yet. But redheads are prone to go grey early. :(
Got a little rambly there at the end. Plaid Ducks? Bwahahah... My hair has always been stick straight. I tried perms ~ looked like a poodle, not good. Tried coloring it to liven up the mousy brown ~ took too much effort to keep up with. Now I am happily silver and loving it.
Yes, the inauguration, while inspirational, did lack a certain element of Plaid. How long until the Plaid Duck's next chance? 2012?
I've been coloring my hair for almost 10 years... I think my natural color would be brown... prolly a bit lighter than what I color it. Speaking of which, I am in desperate need of coloring it again... too many grey hairs are showing!!!
Ugh, hair!
My hair has changed.
It's gray.
But you won't know it because I get it restored to it's natural auburnish color every 6-7 weeks ;)
Do I wrestle with my husband??? Huh???
I watched all of the Inauguration and did consider at one point that I wish Michelle had worn plaid. In your honor of course ;)
I've had plenty of blonde moments even though my hair has darkened as I've gotten older. It used to be strawberry blonde (exactly like Miss Pink's, if you remember seeing pictures of her) and now it's brown. But I still have natural blonde and red highlights, which I like. I don't plan on coloring it until I start going gray!
Oh, Oh! College Girl was born on February 5th, and she's a blonde, too! Do you see any correlation? And I posted about my plaid on Inauguration Day. And about your candidacy, BTW. :)
The inauguration...what might've been:-)
