Let Me Esplain....

No... there is too much

Let me sum up. (Hopefully without being too depressing)

Hells Embargo has "graciously" decided to "forgive" me and my "errors" and give me a special "code" which will indicate that I "resigned" but will still allow me to get unemployment, and they will pay me for 2 weeks.

Horse. Poo.

First of all if someone calls them to check for past employment, they'll tell them I resigned, not that I was laid off - that's not good.

Second - I DID NOT RESIGN therefore I AM ENTITLED to have 6 weeks of severance and damn it, I'm gonna get it. Tomorrow is my "last day" and if I don't hear from the HR lady by 10, I'm calling the CEO. Repeatedly... until he takes my call.

My interview in Atlanta on Monday was poo. They weren't expecting me, their job application asked for illegal information, and the lady I interviewed with was perhaps the bitchiest person ever.

I'm sitting on the floor of my apartment. There's no furniture.

So life... is still a little sucky.

Let's focus on positives....

Mr. B was a wonderful help with moving and I got to spend lots of time with him.

Jillian picked Ed.

Um....

Yeah.

Just wanted to bring you up to speed.

Oh.... and Gert likes Soccer... but not the sweating.

They're Coming to Take Me Away.....

When last we left my situation at work, I wasn't going to qualify for unemployment because my position was being eliminated, but I didn't apply for another job in the area. Which, as we all know, is a load of CRAP, but when that's what "the man" says, and that man is the one who clicks "position eliminated" or "voluntary termination" on your file, you just go with it. So we (my boss and I) figured out a work around that meant I would work a couple more weeks, and I would apply for the job there that I don't qualify for, they would hire someone, and I would qualify for unemployment.

So today.

She and our manager go to lunch with our regional big wig guy. They talk a little about my situation, but not a whole lot is said. She gets back from lunch, and a little while later, she gets an email from him saying that I have 60 days to work and THEN I'll be eligible for unemployment. I don't even have the energy to express my emotion.

So.... I said to my boss "Has ANYONE EVER contacted HR about all this??? I STILL don't think it's right that I was TOLD my job was ending but if I didn't apply for a job, I wouldn't get unemployment." At that point I was going to go call HR (I'd spent the morning searching the HR site for the policy.

She called HR. Was on the phone for almost an hour.

We were right. I DID/DO qualify for unemployment because my job WAS terminated. The buttmunch who was telling me all this CRAP last Thursday NEVER EVER contacted HR. He was pretty much just making up all this CRAP on his own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND

NOT ONLY do I qualify for unemployment.

I

Qualify

for

6 WEEKS OF SEVERANCE PAY.

YEs... you read that right.

She talked to 3 people in HR and they all agree. She's waiting to hear from someone about something, so I will NOT be counting my chickens until they are in my wallet... but.

Yeah. I'm completely fried. My brain has ceased functioning. I burst out in hysterical giggles at random moments.

We'll see what tomorrow brings. But you can know for SURE that when I'll this is over, I WILL be making sure that that PRICK who started all this has his ARSE slung up VERY high.

(Make sure to hang out and listen to my songs... I picked them special just for today!)

The One Where I Pretty Much Just Give Up

(Caution... not nice language ahead)

Yeah... I wasn't going to blog until I had good news for you. But today... today I just have to get this all off my chest.

Tomorrow was to be my last day at WF (I can't actually say the name of the company... we were told the name can't appear on Blogs and Facebook). In case you are coming late to the party, about a month ago I was told that my job was being eliminated as of July 17th. It was offered to apply for another job in the Asheville office, but there were many other people applying and I have some issues with a person in that office and so I ASKED "If I DON'T apply for it, will there be any ramifications to being eligible for unemployment?" Not that I could see how it would, because MY JOB... the one I HAD... was being eliminated. That should be the only thing that matters. I was told

IT WOULD NOT AFFECT MY ELIGIBILITY.

Today I said something to my boss about getting a letter that SAID that my position had been eliminated. She said she'd get that for me, and e-mailed our regional guy.

He sent me an e-mail (actually copied me in on his reply to her)... essentially it said "If I remember correctly, Lizzy chose not to apply for the job in Asheville, therefore she voluntarily terminated employment, so she would not be eligible for job elimination status."

WHAT THE F*CK?????????

I immediately replied to him saying "What job did I voluntarily terminate??? I can't terminate what I don't have!!!! The job I CURRENTLY HAVE IS BEING ELIMINATED. SO IN TERMS OF THIS POSITION, I DID NOT VOLUNTARILY TERMINATE ANYTHING!!!!"

He came back and said because I had the chance to apply and didn't, well.. you get it... same BLAH BLAH BLAH as before.

The rage was SO GREAT I couldn't even BREATH. I was bawling.. my boss was in a meeting. I was trying to answer the phones and carry on business while my world was FALLING FLIPPING APART.

Wanna know how much money we're talking about here??? Wanna know how much I qualify for??? Ready??

$211.00 a week. $844.00 a month. My GREAT BIG HUGE COMPANY THAT POSTED RECORD PROFITS LAST QUARTER is SQUABBLING OVER $5486.00. Hey... I bet that's about how much our office manager has been reimbursed this year for claiming client dinners when it's actually his daughter and girlfriend.

My boss got MAD... LIVID even. At the corporate dorks who gave HER the wrong information in about 30 different ways. And my branch manager got REALLY mad and started yelling at the regional guy.

Now... I could relate about 4 hours of drama here... but I didn't enjoy living through it once, and don't care to do it again, and if I didn't like it, you surely won't either.

The office I'm in now has an open position, for a job different from mine. When I was ORIGINALLY told about this position, I was told it would be PART TIME. So... that won't cut it, so I made plans. I gave notice on my apartment. Then today it was revealed the the job was going to be FULL TIME. And technically I don't qualify for the position... and I gave notice on my apartment. And they have someone else renting my apartment next month. SO... today I applied for the job. And I'm not going to get it, because I don't' qualify, but it WILL make them all happy and so then when I'm done with my current job IN TWO WEEKS NOW... I'll be eligible for unemployment.

Which is fine. Other than COMPLETELY TURNING MY PLANS TO SHREDS. I had PLANNED to spend next week in Atlanta, hitting the streets for a job. Then going to Minnesota for 5 days to get the girls, then coming back to Atlanta, and if I don't yet have a job, sending The Ladies to their dad's while I kept looking. Well.. NOW... I'm working next week. And Half of the following week. While still packing up my apartment in the evenings and weekends. And then going to Minnesota. Then coming back and....

yeah... at that point the Crystal Ball goes dark.

So in the end? I guess in the end I'm a little better off - cause I get about 8 extra days of pay... but seriously... today... was from HELL.

Oh... and update on looking for a job. My closest estimate is that I've applied for about 300 jobs. I have gotten NO RESPONSE (other than a few thanks but no thanks).... Yeah... that's just GREAT for ones ego.

But... it's gonna be okay. I have faith. I'm not going to die and I'm not going to be homeless... that's all that matters.

Mr. B Sr Update

Just got off the phone with Mr. B. Yesterday a scan said his brain had swollen 1 mm (cm?? not sure but whatever makes sense)... today it's 17. Not good. They are talking about doing a procedure to relieve the pressure. Please pray. Send good thoughts. Sacrifice a goat. Whatever you feel called to do. And pray for Mr. B too. My precious love is hurting and it's killing me.

Update

Mr. B's dad is stable. Not able to talk or swallow at this point but he is able to write, and even laughed at a joke about his handwriting. He'll hopefully be moving into rehab at the end of this week.

I'm... not going to be blogging for a while. Until something gets figured out in my life I just... can't.

I'll be back. Promise.

Pray Please

Mr. B's dad had a stroke last night. Right now he can't move his left side. He and his wife were in the middle of a month long trip from NC to WA state. FORTUNATELY they were at Mr. B's brother's house in Denver, rather than at a campsite, and he's now at a stroke hospital. Please pray for all of them.

Open Letter to Those "Hiring" these days....

Dear Sir, Madame, Random E-mail Generator,

I would like to take this moment to thank you for all the jobs I've been offered this week. I just want to offer a few words of advice, from a potential employee.

To you "Albert Anderson". Just a couple things. First, when YOU misspell the name of your "company" in the first word of your email, it does tend to make one a little suspicious. Second, while having someone answer some questions is very valid, asking them "if you have your own bank account and what that account number is" isn't likely to get an actual response. And finally, having a company that supposedly is an active "online" company, but not findable in Google, really raises questions. You'll notice I didn't reply to your email... I think we both know why.

To "Jane Lowe, Pete Stevens, Angie Truax, Molly Horn, Al Roth, Steve Peterson, Maggie Brown and Jason Logan"... you all seem to be "Vice President of HR" for the same company. While I don't claim to be a financial analyst or anything, I'm just guessing that your company my be a little top heavy in management, and maybe trimming you down to oh... say... one person, in this economy that seems like a prudent, cost savings idea.

And to the AJCjobs.com person who replied to my "It is extremely bothersome that you use hotjobs as your job search engine because you have to wait through so much crap" with "We have a contract with hotjobs"... um... yeah... I KNOW that. I'm saying you SHOULDN'T. I'm saying that having to wade through 3 pages of "Work from home" and "get paid to take surveys" and find the actual JOBS is a PAIN and makes me NOT WANT TO USE YOU.

And to the three of you actually hiring for a REAL position... I'm a hard worker, dependable, loyal, sweet, detail oriented, professional, tech savvy, computer literate and can answer up to 80 phone lines with 60 different greetings. And I can say all the states in alphabetical order in one breath in less than 20 seconds. That ALONE should make you DYING to hire me.

I'm available at any time for a face-to-face interview to share more ways I am a perfect fit for your organization.

Sincerely,

Lizzy

Yet Another Great

Karl Malden passed away today at the age of 97. I remember him from many shows, but this, this is my favorite... (ends at about 3:30)
