My sweet Kris started the night with a favorite "The Way You Look Tonight" which I always associate with Father of the Bride which is such a great movie... "Oh, I assumed you'd be waring a blaack tuxatho." "This is a black tuxatho" "Oh I don't tink so babe, dat tux is naavy blue" "What are you talking about, Armani doesn't make a blue tuxedo" "Armani don't also make polyester"
Sorry... I digress.... Kris did a wonderful job. There was one falsetto note that was a smidge off (see - I can be objective about my favorite), but then he rocked it out a little in the middle and that was a nice switch. I think he had a solid performance. Randy, Kara and Paula all adored it (probably even more than I did) but Simon thought Kris was.... wet.....

Allison comes out in.... a black dress. Seriously... I love this girl but surely there's more to life than black and red. Little rocker chick cliche'. She sings "Someone to Watch Over Me"... and I have to say, I've been middle of the road about Allison, but she did a GREAT job... she used the husky voice but restrained it and made it work for the soft ballad. Impressive. Again Randy, Kara and Paula love her and Simon says it was good but she lacks ego.

Here's my side note for tonight...

Matt.... blah.... singing "My Funny Valentine".... and he's NOT playing the piano. Humph... he should have. He pulls it pretty straight... but I just wasn't feeling it. He had some pitch problems... he hit a lovely last note but then slipped up to his weak falsetto... eh. Randy agreed with me. Which doesn't say much for me does it? Kara agrees with us. Paula loves him (she's back to being sunshine in a can for everyone) and then.. Simon agrees with Paula. Seriously. Whatever.

Danny is singing Come Rain or Come Shine - I gotta tell ya... he's no Kris, but he did a good job. Honestly, I would call it his best performance - it had tender moments but then he put some blues in it... I'm not big on the blues part... he overdid it a little for my tastes. It's okay to do a ballad and just ballad your way through the whole thing.
Speaking of Ballads - I want an Idol Power Ballad Night.
The judges all liked it and Simon agrees it was his best in weeks.

Ok... Adam's got the diva spot AGAIN... Adam has on a white suit. How do I do that? I have white paper... mmm... and he kinda looks like he should be wandering around in a layer of fog welcoming someone to the pearly gates in some 80's "Dead Again" kind of flick. And that's pretty much right on because AGAIN it's like Adam Lambert playing a character singing a song. He comes slinking down the stairs... and really... do you know Wicked... because this song sounded like it came STRAIGHT out of there... HEY - he ALMOST has a forked tongue. Hmmm.... and he yells and screetches and actually, goes a little flat on his last note. Of course all the judges liked it.

So there... the 5 is done. Who's going home? Matt maybe... I'm a little worried about Kris... I think his body of work is much better than any of them, but this week wasn't his best week. Then again, Allison is usually a bottom dweller... so... all that to say, who KNOWS!!!!!

The way out?
