Help, I Need Somebody!

Hey guys. Do I look any different? I'm a full-fledged Wells Fargo/Wachovia employee! It took a while, but I am. Now the only trick - I don't get paid again until January 30th. ACK!!!

So, here's your assignment for the weekend. I got a $25 gift card for itunes for Christmas, and I'm in a bit of a musical rut, so I need suggestions. What are your favorite songs? Favorite all time? Favorite new songs? Just fyi - I'm TOTALLY riding a lovey dovey high right now so songs about love sucking probably won't cut it :)

So thanks in advance sweeties!!!

Yea about the job! I love Josh Groban and anything ABBA and my favorite song right now - drumroll please - All the Single Ladies - Beyonce. I know I'm not single, I don't want to be but this song gets me dancing, which sends everyone else in the room running.

Congrats on the new job! I've been on a retro kick lately and have been listening to hard rock classics from my own teen years. Metallica rules!

Congratulations on the job!! Yahoo!!
I love Elton John. Especially the song "The One".
Check out Eva Cassidy too. Especially her rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", and "I know you by heart".
I don't know if you like country music, but Toby Keith is awesome. And just to show you that my taste in music runs the gamut, I love, love Andre Bocelli. Two of my favorites of his- "Mi Manchi", and "Because We Believe".

Some think she's cliche, but I heart Taylor Swift. She has such a sweet, pure voice. And you can't go wrong with James Taylor's new covers of old songs! BTW, don't forget Sx3 tomorrow...it's a 3-parter!

Congrats on the job!! I'm very happy for you.

For the music, that's a toughie. I love music and the moods they can make for your life. When I'm in a feel-good mood like you are, I like the classics. Motown always works.

Yay for you!!!!

Love Free Falling by Tom Petty!

Oh YEA for you!!! Congratulations!

Music. Favorite all time--probably Chris Rice. His Short Term Memories CD. It's all SO good.

Also, the Watermark Constant CD.

Both old. And SO good!

A little newer: Selah, The Broken Road. Perfect song for you. Love the CD.

Oops, I guess it's Bless the Broken Road.

Congrats on the job. And, sorry, I have no advice on the music. I am way out of that loop!

Feel free to check out any of my lovey dovey song on my play list. Michael Buble is always good. I also love me a little Pink because I can't get enough of her attitude. I wish I had half the courage and attitude she has in her music.

Congrats on your officialness!!

As for music- I love ALL kinds and sometimes feel people might think I am a weird 49 year old with the variety of tunes I listen to. My niece always has new and different songs on her blog according to her mood. So a couple I have gotten from her blog are Rock and Roll by Eric Hutchinson and Darlin' Do Not Fear by Brett Dennen. Then Everlast has redone the Johnny Cash song- Folsom Prison Blues and it is pretty good. Good luck music shopping.

Ya know that full time employee job is making you look thinner!
OK, it will have to be Casting Crowns "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" since my oldest is singing on it, sigh.....

So have you spent your $25 yet?

I am on an abba kick. I keep trying to figure out how to make my posts work with abba songs.

or Dave Matthews band. I love Ants Marching. And Crash.

Or Cold Play. I am in love with Violet Hill. I so wanted to do a post with that as a theme song. But I can't figure it out.

Ha, Abba must be in the air, because I just downloaded the Mamma Mia soundtrack with Abba. It's so fun and just what the doctor ordered for my winter blahs!

Congrats on the job, I know I am sooo lovin mine :)

As for the music, I got an iPod of christmas and I loaded a bunch of my old cd's onto my iTunes. I love the big hair bands from the 80's and a lot of the curren stuff too. Keith Urban is AWESOME and he has some GREAT lovey dovey stuff too.

What I do, is go to Walmart.com and listen to the snippets of their top 100 downloads to get ideas. Then you can hop on over to iTunes and decide from there.

Yay for official job status!!! Hang in there for that check...
As for songs... I'm currently in love with Michael Buble's version of "Fever" (as well as most of his stuff). I'm also on a Norah Jones kick :)
And... if you're in the mood for something a little different, Explosions in the Sky is amazing. Have fun finding some new tunes :)

Lady Antebellum - Love Don't Live Here - great melody and fun.

Kellie Pickler - Don't you know you're beautiful.

young MC - bust a move. A must in every itunes collection.

(ps did you get my emails???)

Congrats!

John Mayer, Joni Mitchell, India Arie, Matthew Good, and Our Lady Peace are some of my random favorites.

IF I were to add to your list, it'd be almost all kids songs. Don't think you need help there! ;)

BTDT on the paycheck thing. Are you going to once a month paychecks or twice a month?

Favorite lovey dovey song...

Sea Of Love Remastered from the Juno soundtrack...totally AWESOME. And Heaven DJ Sammy remix. That one will make you cry.

Congrats on the job!
Shawn got the new Kid Rock for Christmas. It magically loaded on my mp3, and I LOVE it! It's a good mix of fast and slow, rock and country.

I don't have any suggestions that would probably be new to you. I love Coldplay and have listened to Viva la Vida about a thousand times. What else? Girl Talk - kind of rap but lots of recognizable songs in it. Not hardcore but there is some swearing. Um, the soundtrack to Once. Beautiful, beautiful music there.

Have fun with your gift card!

Yay for you! I say ANYTHING by Maroon 5!!!

Fields of Gold- Sting
Watch the Wind Blow By- Tim McGraw

Both are serious s*x songs for me- so, even though I trust you are a good girl, you may dig these, and some day they may hold such a place in your heart, too.

Or, having said that, you'll never be able to listen to them again....

You know who you need to talk to?

Lula, the queen of music. And iPods. And iTunes.

I'm sure she can think of about a hundred songs right off the top of her head.

Me, I'm hopeless. I can barely remember my name, much less the song and artist names...

Lula! said...

I am laughing at what Heather said, but also because my comment goes like this:

SENDING YOU AN E-MAIL NOW...'cause you know me and music.

Glad your job is all set in stone. It makes me happy.
Know what else makes me happy? A slumber party. I'm just sayin'.

Congratulations on your new job! That's great news!

I'm really loving Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" right now. It's fun! And I'm still loving Secondhand Serenade's "Fall for You" because it reminds me of Edward and Bella.

Dave Barnes...his new one, Me and You and the World. Got it off iTunes. Love it. Gotta listen...you'll love it too. Promise.

This is Sidney's daughter Tori...
Okay, here are my suggestions:
-Jack Johnson - especially "Banana Pancakes", "Upside Down", "Taylor," and "The Horizon Has Been Defeated"
-Jason Mraz - his new CD is the better one
-John Mayer - "Free Fallin'," and "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room"
-Switchfoot - pretty much anything
-Augustana - both of their CDs are amazing

:)
