The Truth is....
I'm a sucker for a good museum - especially one that relates to American History. It's spring break this week, and while all our friends are off to Florida and the beach and other beautiful places, the lack-o-job around here made us spring break it at home. I looked at various places to go and do things around Atlanta - the zoo, World Of Coca Cola, Botanical gardens - and all of them were still just a little on the pricey side. Then I got a wild hair (hare?) and decided to see how much it cost to go to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library - and guess what - CHEAP - $8 for me, girls free! It wasn't hard to sell the girls - they visited Reagan's library last summer and enjoyed it, so they were up for it. The grounds at the Library are beautiful, and the exhibits were very interesting. Carter is the first President I remember, and while I am a die-hard Reagan girl, I do remember voting for Carter in our school election in 1980. I don't necessarily agree with his politics now, but he's a good man, with a good heart, who was President at a very difficult time. So here's a few pictorial highlights from our day.

Definitely separated at birth. Love museums. I stood in the National Archives for HOURS. :)
Carter Centers is so pretty. The flowers alone are worth the drive. Lovely pictures. That one of you and the girls is wonderful.
Looks like a fun time!
If I were staycationing in your neighborhood, I would go to Callaway Gardens and stop at the canyon--can't think of the name of it. It's just to the north of the gardens, I think. Or the south. We were coming from Albany, so I might be turned around. Just ask somebody. The azaleas at the gardens go on forever. They are awesome. :-)
Looks like a great day! Those gardens are beautiful!
I love that your daughters wanted to go as much as you :)
Great pictures and what a beautiful day for an outing!! Looks like everyone had fun...
That is awesome!! You are such lovely ladies!!
What a fun time! Love your snaps, and must say I'm jealous that you got to witness both history and spring in full bloom. We've had grey days, full of rain, interspersed with an occasional 80-degree scorcher. I'm afraid all the bulbs will rot in the ground!
I thought of Callaway Gardens too. Have you been to Stone Mountain? Used to climb Kennesaw Mountain almost every day. One mile up and a great workout. I also tried to visit as many battlefields as I could. There is such an abundance of history in the Atlanta area. You and the girls should never be bored.
I don't know if they still hold it, but I used to go to the Gay Festival. Not what it looks like. A cute little town named Gay south of Atlanta that held a nice little town festival every year. It was a fun day trip.
So THAT's what spring looks like!! Thanks for the reminder! :)
