They poured concrete yesterday. This is the ramp in the front of the house - nice gentle slope up to the front step - this will be useful for Mr. B's son who uses a walker and wheelchair, and for his dad who uses a wheelchair. I got the idea from a house here in town, and I like that it doesn't scream "THERE IS A HANDICAPPED PERSON LIVING HERE" like a wood ramp does.
They had to tear up the driveway to put in the geothermal stuff. We finally have a driveway back, which is SO nice because that Georgia red clay gets EVERYWHERE.
This is the new upstairs laundry room. See - all ready to be hooked up. Once there are walls that is.
The shower in the new bathroom.
Ok, now this is one of my favorite things. See that light in the middle of the picture - the circular one? That's not a light. It's a skylight tube. That's sunlight coming through there! Neither the new bathroom nor the laundry room have windows, and since those are both places that mildew LOVES to inhabit, I really wanted some way of getting natural light in there. Enter the skylight tube!!! I'm so exited - the roof for both of those rooms has a southern exposure so they both should get good light! The 2nd picture is a view of the tube on the roof - that little domed thing just to the right of the tree.

Wow! I can't wait to see it in person! We'll be putting those six burners to use!
Great idea on the skylight tube; I've never even heard of that!
Yeah, baby. I'll be there for the turkey! :)
That skylight tube is really nifty. Never heard of that before.
Okay, looks like you are cooking with gas now (or about to be?) Can I just ask a really dumb question? What geothermal stuff? Guess I missed something.
Shelley,
I'm kinda clueless about how it all works, but here's a kind of sort of explanation

Whoo-hoo! Looks like things are coming along very nicely.
Oh what I would give to have 6 burners in my house!!!
Some of our neighbors in our old neighborhood had those skylight tubes in their upstairs bath. Their house was the same model as ours, so it was like a bizarro version of our own upstairs bathroom. I totally loved it and spent the next 8 years trying to convince Hubby we should do that in our bathroom. (He never agreed.)
Jealous about the stove - we're still a couple years away from redoing our kitchen, sigh.....
That ramp looks lovely and not at all "HEY SOMEONE USES A WHEELCHAIR HERE YOO HOOOOO!" in the least!
AWESOME! SIX BURNERS! I am so very excited for YOU! Thanks for sharing the remodel pictures!
So exciting!!!
Just got finished reading about skylight tubes in Popular Science. Those are so awesome!
Your house is going to be so beautiful!
I bet you are just bursting with excitement! That's just awesome. I can't wait to see more pics as it gets finished!
I am so envious. SERIOUSLY GREEN WITH ENVY!
