Bizzy - The Decision Strategy From Lizzy

Have you seen "Bing"? It's the new "decision engine" from Microsoft. Supposedly it's supposed to help you make decisions. I'm not sure how. But that's what they say.

I have a much better way to make decisions. It's tried and true method for selecting what movie you want to see, which dessert to get, which boy to ask to prom, which nursing home to put your parents in, and who is "It" for Freeze Tag.

That's right. Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Moe (who DOOO you spell all that?).

It's so simple.

Let's try this together.

My mom is getting a little older, and down the road will be care facilities needing to be selected. Let's say I can't decide between Ed's Elderly Eden, Sunny Senior Sity and Geriatric Gardens. So I write them all on separate pieces of paper. Then do the EMMM, in whatever way you learned. I, personally, do

Eeny, meeny, miney, moe,
Catch a Tiger by the toe
If he hollers, make him pay
Fifty dollars every day

My mother told me
To pick the very best one
And you are not it.

So then you remove that option, in this case Ed's Elderly Eden, and start over with the remaining 2. Then when you are down to the "Winner" one of two things will happen. Either you will feel at peace with the results and you carry on with them, or you'll realize that you DON'T like the answer you got, which then helps you to know which option your heart/gut was actually set on.

I know... it sounds simple... but I find it so helpful. And I wanted to help YOU. Cause that's how I roll.

That's all good and fine unless you're like my brother and I and you've learned how to stack the odds in your favor. LOL Then again, are any of these options really ones we want to have to choose or EMMM over?

Sometimes, you just have to pick something and move forward with the decision...right or wrong...go with it:-)

We always used this strategy to determine who was "it" for neighborhood freeze tag. I always hated that the bigger kids could figure out how many "pieces they wished" that would make them not it.

Okay - so I've known you for too many year to even count. Back in the teenage era. I'm reading your post and realizing... I might have been selected as your friend via EMMM. WOW. Now, I know. Good thing it worked out for me!! :-)

I do the exact same thing--if I don't like the results, then I know what I really wanted.

I like having an official name for this method: the EMMM.

Great idea.

You should market it, write a book, illustrate it with your stick figures, and make millions.

I promise I'll buy the first copy, which you can autograph when I finally meet you in person.

And the reason I love your post is because I do the "flip a coin" when there are two options. I tell people to make sure to be alone when said coin is flipped. If it lands on the "wrong" answer, you'll know what you should have done in the first place! :)

Flipping coins helps too. You're welcome! =D
