First... I've been following this Natasha Richardson situation and just got home from work and found out she passed away. I think the only thing I ever saw her in was the remake of The Parent Trap, but I really enjoyed her in it, and I liked that she had been married for a long time and just... seemed normal. Ya know? I'm just so sad for her family. So my heart goes out to her.
Have you been following the whole AIG bonus situation? As most of you know I'm subjected to Fox News all day so I've had no choice. And I gotta tell you, I'm conflicted. I really think tying government & business so close together isn't a good thing. You know the whole separation of church and state? I believe in the separation of business and state, too. I DO think that CEO's and upper management in many companies make an obscene amount of money. But I don't know that it's the governments place to say how much is "too much"... but when they involved our tax money they should, right? Well.. that's why our tax money shouldn't be involved in this. I realize that AIG is a huge business and if they go under it's a big deal... but it seems to have turned into a big deal anyways, hunh? One thing I wonder about this bonus amount is, are there some just... "mid level" people involved? People who were counting on their bonus (because they're in arms of the company NOT involved in the mass failure) to pay their mortgages?? Now they're all being pressured to give the money back. It's all a big mess isn't it? And now there seems to be quite a bit of speculation about when congress & the white house knew about the planned bonus payout....
Maybe I'm glad I didn't win the election this time around...
I have a problem on Tuesday night... American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and Biggest Loser are all at the same time, and I can only record 2 at a time. ARGH!!!!!!!! So I bailed on Biggest Loser and apparently it was pretty good last night. Fudge.
I'm watching AI Results- Michael just broke my heart - saying that his daughter asked him why he doesn't want to be with her any more... awwwww... poor baby. But... if my prediction is correct, she won't have that problem much longer.
Ok... so Danny is safe, Lil is safe, Anoop is safe, Allison and Michael are standing... Allison is in the bottom three... (I think she didn't hear that right at first...) Michael is also in the bottom three....
And BREAK....
Brad Paisley is singing his new song. Have I ever told you about my ex's cousin's husband? He's a songwriter in Nashville - he co-wrote the song "Have You Forgotten" by Darryl Worley, and also a song that Brad recorded - "Waitin' On A Woman." His name is Wynn Varble and he's one VERY funny guy!!! At any rate - I like Brad but that performance was a little slow... and off... makes me wonder if that stage is hard to hear yourself on...hmm...
Ok... Scott is safe.... Megan is also safe...Matt is safe.... Kris is safe (THANK YOU!!!) so now we're down to Alexis and Adam... Alexis is in the bottom three, Adam is safe.....
So the bottom three is Allison, Michael and Alexis... but we have to wait for Carrie Underwood to sing....
And commercials.
And Carrie - dueting with Randy... and it's ok... I'm not a big Randy Travis fan
Ugh... just get ON with it already!
Ryan just asked if one of the two would be worth using the judges save for and Simon said yes. My bet is Alexis.
OH MY GOD - Michael is safe!!! I was wrong.... Ok... now am I right about the judges keeping her? Oh lordy.. Simon just told her it all comes down to this performance... NO PRESSURE HONEY..... I can't imagine them using their one save the WHOLE season this early.... Hmm... I think she forgot some of the words?? Something seemed off. Simon says it was good but not good enough... so Alexis goes home. wow...
Ok... I wasn't a big Alexis fan, so I'm okay......
Michael is ONE lucky guy.
Freek... the President is on next Tuesday I guess that takes care of my Tuesday Night Too Much TV problem.

Now you know more people want to see AI than the freaking President, but whatev!
I liked Alexis, I was sad for her.
I am so sad about Natasha! I loved her in Nell and in Parent Trap. It is just another reminder that life is so fragile and delicate.
I have no need to watch tonight...
the whole bailout thing makes me want to barf. I don't know about you, but when I got paid to do my job (in the days of yore) I received a bonus for doing a good job and a profitable job. How can these guys get merit pay for driving the company into this situation? I think I have found a new career in insurance.
I am so with you on the AIG thing you can see both sides
I'm still trying to get to know the AI contestants
I was hoping to see a stick figure of the girl that looked like she was stock boy wearing a lifting belt LOL
love your updates :)
I LOVE that song, Waitin' On A Woman. It makes me laugh and cry because it is so sweet and true.
I know (knew) a guy who moved his family from Atlanta to Nashville. He went to work for Integrity Music and ended up as the CFO for Reba.
Oh, and No Bailouts! Ever! Keep your taxing fingers out of my pockets and let the companies burn. It's called a free market. And it works.
The Natasha Richardson story is so sad. Tragic that what should have been a simple fall turned out to be so fatal.
AIG sucks butthole. The money should be given back. No question!
I have been following the Natasha Richardson story as well. It so sad. I had seen her in Nell and the Parent Trap. My heart goes out to her family.
Alexis got ROBBED! She might not be the best, but she was certainly better than Michael, Scott, and Megan. Crazy, I tell ya!!
I don't know about those bonuses and bailouts. If middle management is relying on bonuses to pay their mortgages, they shouldn't be in that position. Bonuses are incentatives...not guarantees. We never budget for bonuses or overtime. That's extra.
I get so wrapped up in these celebrities that I feel like I know these people. This Natasha Richardson thing has got me all kinds of torn up. :-( So sad.
I thought Alexis was robbed last night. Her performance this week was better than others who managed to stay in (Adam, Michael, Lil, ahem). Oh well. I guess I can't complain since I don't bother to call in and vote.
randy travis has a song that could quite possibly be the best country song ive ever heard it old but it gives me goose bumps....its called "i told you so" sooo sad and yet beautiful...im a sucker for the older country like late 80's early 90's
and its soo sad natasha r died...such a tragety!!
Natasha Richardson. Sigh. Such a sad, sad thing.
The AIG bonuses have me in a quandry. While I understand that people have contracts ensuring bonuses for performance, how are they getting them? If the company is in such bad shape, shouldn't the bonuses be the first thing to go?
I'm totally with you on keeping the gov't out of business. Nothing good will come of it. In fact, there is a pretty good argument that we're in the situation we're in now BECAUSE of gov't intervention. (Ie forcing banks to lend to unqualified buyers to increase minority homeownership.)
And Barney Frank should get an Oscar for his acting. Yeesh.
I love that if I miss on of my shows someone will blog about it and I get all caught up, thanks.
And I too think the government should stay out business. Clean your own house before you go and clean someone elses.
It's very sad about Natasha Richardson. My heart goes out to her family.
What were those executives at AIG thinking? I'm with you that it doesn't seem good to set a precedent of the government taxing them to get the money back...but the whole bailout thing is so complicated. Maybe they should have set some guidelines as to what they were allowed to do with the money BEFORE they gave it to AIG!
I thought Michael would be going home, but I guess a good ol' boy from Jasper, TX wouldn't be voted off on country week.
I am so sad about Natasha Richardson...I feel so badly for her family!
I am so upset about AIG bonuses ...I may not ever watch the news again!
My Hubby's and mine business is off by 50% and we have had to take a big cut in pay w/0 bail out money...
AIG people should not have gotten bonuses...if they had filed bankruptcy...their contracts would have been null and void. I am sorry they were lucky to have kept their jobs at all!
This is tax payers money...they had no right to those bonuses!
:(
I feel so well informed!! Thanks for the updates!! :)
The president is going to be on AGAIN! What? He didn't tell the Country what we needed to know while on The Leno Show or while announcing his basketball picks? Oh, you mean, he is going to be on television in the capacity of president. Sorry, I thought maybe he forgot what his job was!
I loved your recap! I really like Megan Joy Corkery. She is adorable and I kinda like her quirky sound.
