In February I got a raise. $1.50 more an hour.
I now no longer qualify for foodstamps. Of any kind.

Well, damn, that pay raise didn't really help you out at all. I'm so sorry.
And you got your pay raise notification in the MAIL?! Is that normal?
Ughhhh....that just bites. Alright Pres. Lizzy, how do we fix this problem, becuase I know you're not the only one to fall victim to this. This and entering a new tax bracket with a raise. You're worse off than you were before the raise. There has to be an answer. I'm so sorry.
Yeah, talk about a catch 22.
UGH! It's so frustrating that the government can't look at individual cases for these things. Not everybody fits into their "categories," and no two situations are the same. I'm so sorry.
OH and that amount of a raise will afford you more groceries?? I think not!
I hate the system. I applied when I was not working and living only on child support. They gave me $40 a month!!! How do you feed 2 kids on that?? The system sucks, I tell ya!
Oh Lizzie! Not the post I was expecting when I read the subject line. I'm so sorry! I remember when our WIC was cut off. I was in a panic wondering how I was going to continue to feed this new baby. You will make it through this -- you're a tough chicky...er...ducky!
So...can you tell them to cut your salary??
I am praying for God's help and direction that He will show his purpose soon...you know He always does!!!
Maybe another raise...so proud of you though...you did this...made a life for you and your daughters with God's help! :)

This is one of the things that bug the you know what out of me! Why on earth hasn't someone figured out there should be a designated amount of time such as 1-2 years of overlap once someone no longer qualifies for financial assistance. There could be different levels of assistance based on the various amounts earned above the set limit. Or how about a step program. Now that you no longer qualify for food stamps maybe you could qualify for the next level of assistance so you wouldn't be abandoned with less than you had to begin with on account of hard work and dedication. GRRRRRRRRR!The govt. creates a culture of people who give up and become dependent because of situations like yours. I AM SORRY OUR GOVERNMENT HAS FAILED YOU AND SOO MANY OTHERS!

I'm going to pray that God will provide. I've had to remind myself many times lately (because we haven't gotten paid all month from our business): "I've never seen the righteous forsaken, or his seed begging for bread."

I hope you make it fine without the foodstamps. Times are so tough right now for so many people. It sounds like you weren't ready to get that letter.

Good grief. I wish I had some insightful words of wisdom or even a funny quip for ya, but alas, I've got nothing. Just a big hug and a hang in there. You are an amazing woman who always makes lemonade out of lemons. It's just one of the many things I luv about ya! :-)

yeah....those are the worst. I went to do my taxes this year and despite the fact I can barely make ends meet, and the state and federal govts withhold over $15,000 a year out of my paycheck, they told me that I am nearly into the next highest tax bracket.
Bastards.
AND I only got a $59 return.

Oh, I hear ya on so many levels in this short post. I have had my share of this madness. Pretty much the same situation. No help with insurance or child care just because I was making 75 cents more. It does suck.
