The Biltmore Part I - Flowers Flowers Everywhere...

The ladies and I went to the Biltmore this weekend. It was opening weekend for the Flower Festival, and they have opened 4 new guest rooms that hadn't been open to the public in 100 years, including the room where the Vanderbilt child and grandchildren were born. BEAUTIFUL rooms, but they don't allow camera's in there so if you don't believe me you'll just have to come and see for yourself but you DANG well better tell me you're in town and we can meet for a fancy dinner and the Hoity-Toity McDonald's right by the Biltmore.

First, here's the house, just in case you haven't seen it before. It is AMAZING....

They have converted the stables into a restaurant. We had lunch there... Gert was QUITE parched and chug-a-lugged a little libation!

Essie wanted to prove that she was, indeed, at the Biltmore.

Can you find the cute girl in this picture?

Ok... pretty much from here out is flowers. I ADORE flowers and I love taking picture of them.

I just have to draw your attention to this one - exactly one half of the petal is red.

I hope you enjoyed the flower festival. Later this week we'll experience The Biltmore Part II - Of Mice & Chickens.

Gorgeous pictures!!!!

I haven't been to the Biltmore in YEARS, however I did go to Mars Hill College for a year & 1/2, lol :)

So, funny story about the flowers. We went when I was about 9 or 10 and I so did not want to be looking at all these flowers. But, I did it to make my mama happy...

We leave and she's still taking pictures (this was in the age of film, lol) ;-) And about a week (and couple hundred miles) later...she realizes there was no film in the camera....

We still haven't made it back, but, you bet I'm sending her to your blog - she'll be jealous ;-)

My first trip to Biltmore was during the Festival of Flowers (this was way back in 1992 or 1993... I can't remember if it was my sophompore or junior year that our French class trip was)

(btw, my 2nd trip was in December of my senior year... again it was for our French class trip... I have to say, the flowers are nice, but there ain't nothing like Biltmore at Christmas!)

Anyhoo... great pics!

Beautiful girls and pretty flowers, you must have an awesome camera. My best friend LOVES the Biltmore too, she bought me a guide book for Christmas one year.

I love the Biltmore. When I was in college it was an easy roadtrip and hubs and I went a lot. It is especially beautiful in the spring (your photos show that wonderfully) and all decorated at Christmas.

I'm a sucker for flower photos too :-)

I watched a show once, American Castles, I think, about The Biltmore. It looks so amazing! The flowers are beautiful, too. Great pictures!

Oh, thank you so much for posting these!!!!

I grew up outside of Atlanta, and a trip to the Biltmore was always on schedule for Spring and for Christmas decorations.

Lucky, lucky duck you. Thanks also for helping my homesickness. Lord I miss the deep south in the Spring. Em

Heavy sigh, Lizzy. That new camera is the perfect complement to those flowers! Guess where I'm going to see flowers in a couple of weeks? Hint: It will not be outdoors.

That place looks gorgeous--but if you just happen to be in the Atlanta area some year in the spring, there is nothing to take your breath away like the azaleas at Callaway Gardens. Mmmm, mmm.

That McDonald's IS pretty hoity-toity.

The last time I toured the Biltmore was when Michael and I went for our first anniversary. We did the behind the scenes tour - which was just amazing.

Never been there but you sure know how to make a girl wish she had. I LOVE TULIPS! They're my favorite flower in the WHOLE WORLD! LOVED EACH SHOT.

Beautiful pictures. the weather looks amazing and leaves me a tad jealous. My mom adores the Biltmore and anytime she heads south, she manages to find a way to stop there no matter how far out of the way it takes her.

I've always wanted to go to the Biltmore. It is about 5 and a half hours from me. Maybe sometime we'll make a weekend trip.

Your flower photos are gorgeous! Did you take these with the new camera? I love them!

How is Biltmore in the summer? 'Cause Michelle and I are planning on visiting our Gramma in Newland, NC, this summer, and I would love to make a side trip here.

Your girls look beautiful around all those flowers!

Beautiful photos!!
I have a question-do you have any idea what type of flower that is in the first picture? It looks like a miniature hanging lantern or something. Any ideas?
