Outsmart them whilst you can...

In my mind I am the worlds greatest mother. I calmly do laundry and dishes. I make cookies and wholesome meals. I never raise my voice and every chance I get I take my children out into the world for educational experiences.

BWAHHH HAAAA HAAAAA!!!!

Yeah- in reality- I fall short. And this weekend I fell REALLY short. I did something to my neck and have been in bed most of the weekend.

Essie REALLY REALLY wanted to go to the Biltmore this weekend to play with the chickies and such at the petting farm. I REALLY REALLY didn't want to go. It's chilly and my neck hurts and I just don't want to. Essie REALLY wanted to. I didn't. Are you getting the picture?

So I told her if the temperature got to 45, we would go. I thought that was a nice compromise. She agreed.

But... what would you think of me if I told you I gave her that number after seeing the forecast high for today was....

38.

Oh my. I may have to use that trick myself. I feel your pain, I've been getting cozy with a heating pad on my back most of Sunday. Hope you are feeling better soon, or the temps stay cool a little longer.

I would say that you got to take those in bed days when you can get them. She won't be talking about this is therapy in 20 years so don't worry about it:-)

I hope your neck feels better soon:-)

Hey, a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do. I don't blame you at ALL. At least you let her feel like she had a chance instead of just saying no!

Feel better soon.

Hope your neck is better!

As everyone has already mentioned, very smart. If you had gone, regardless I'm sure no one would have had a good day. You saved the day by ensuring that didn't happen. Hope you feel better soon.

I'd still think you were the BESTEST Mom in the world! :) The weather *could* have warmed up, and I know you would have stuck with the plan. Not to mention, really, going to a petting zoo in below 45 degree weather is really just too cold. But then again, I'm a wimp when it comes to cold weather.

I would think that you're a normal mommy who wants to make her kids happy, but you are also a human who gets sick too.

Don't feel bad for not going and maybe make it up to her some other time.

I know that's lame advice but it's all I gots right now.

Good one, but I think we are all guilty of the same thing a time or two.

Today is a very big day in the Where’s Wenda? Contest. I am visiting all of the SITS followers. Can I do it? There are around 1000 followers. Oh my! Better grab my cup of coffee and get on my way. Be sure to visit Hot Chocolate Caramel Mocha and Three Bay B Chicks as part of your contest entry.

Good going! It gets a lot more difficult to outsmart the little boogers. Hope your neck gets better soon so you can go see the chickies.

Uhm... petting farm in 30 degree weather... no thank you.

Smart move, mom.

I'm sure Essie would really thank you if she thought about the details in this plan. Brrrrr....

I think everyone is just sitting around waiting and waiting for Spring to come already. I keep thinking that 50 must be warm and we should go to the park or something....but it really doesn't feel that warm!

Hope your neck feels better soon! The comment you left today was so sweet---thank you.

I would give you a High Five, a handful of Advil and send you off to bed! =-)

I'm really looking forward to when my girls are old enough to make their own food and such, so that when I'm sick I can actually take off to bed for a little while. These toddler days are wearing me out =-)
