I think I blogged about my putting The Ladies' names in the local sherriffs Angel Tree program. Friday afternoon was the day I was to go pick up the stuff. My boss let me leave an hour early so that I could get the toys and get them home and hidden before getting The Ladies.
It had been raining off and on all day, but the sun was trying to break though before it set for the day.
I was driving, thinking about all the people who had helped with The Ladies Christmas, and how much I appreciate it, but yet how much I don't want to have to rely on the kindness of strangers, and more than that, I want to BE one of those kindly strangers for someone else....
I was not totally paying attention to the world around me (other than other drivers)....
Then I saw this:
Okay.... this picture doesn't do this thing justice. It was the MOST VIVID RAINBOW EVER EVER EVER - and you can see it was a double.. but what you CAN'T see is that it was a TRIPLE!! TRIPLE RAINBOW
AND
Not only that - but it was a FULL ARCH - I could see from one side all the way to the other side... and as I was driving I was getting closer and closer to it - so much so that I was almost having to look straight up to see it.
Wanna know what was right under it?
The church... where I was to pick up the gifts.
Do you know what a rainbow is? It's a Promise from God. In the Bible it was His Promise that he would never again flood the earth. And at that moment I knew... that was His Promise to me that this would be the last time I had to make a trip like this. It was His Promise that things were going to get better.

Sometimes we just need those gentle reminders that God hasn't left us. Next Christmas will be better than this one, I just know it. Not only for you but for all of us who are struggling just to get by. Merry Christmas!
Awesome, Lizzy! Thanks so much for sharing such a beautiful encounter. God has a way of showing himself so personally. It's good that you're keeping your eyes open, for you seem to see him often.
Do you HAVE to make me cry EVERY time I read your blog lately?! Sheesh!!
I know I've never met you, but I swear, you must be one of the most sincere and deserving women on earth!
ps - I don't get the message you left me on my blog...
I got chills reading this! I'm so, so glad it's going to be a Merry Christmas for you guys. I had to have immense help last year, and felt as you do. I was reminded by several that this is the season I'm in. I don't know how long it will last - it may be one year, it may be five years. But it's okay to be in this season, and there is hope on the other side.
Have a very Merry Christmas! You guys deserve it! Take lots of Christmas morning pix!!!
That is so awesome! Your ladies deserve the best!!
Oh, Lizzy. How wonderfully amazing. I've never even heard of a triple rainbow. And that God made a promise to you, and to Gert, and to Essie. Wow. Just wow.
Wow! And I can't think of anything better to say than that. God loves us, amazing, huh? =)
Oh my gosh!!
That is just so awesome!!!

That is such a wonderful story!!! I LOVE it!!! God always keeps his promises! Let's hope 2009 is better for all of us!
Who else could make a promise so beautiful!!! We've had double here but never triple, you are blessed!
AWESOME. How truly awesome God and His messages are...
Where is the tissue warning!!! :) That is just awesome...sometimes we all need those gentle reminders that God is there for us. Things are going to get better and next year you will be the one picking names off of the angel tree...I hope you have the most joyous Christmas ever! :)
That is so awesome. I love how He talks to us with nature. :)
I have been in my 'season' for three years now and am praying that the end is near. Unfortunately, I didn't get my kiddo's name on a list. But I know that he will not go without.
God is good. God is great!
What a pretty picture and a nice and hopeful post.
I should have put the kids on a list this year but I am having a hard time admitting my failures.
Love rainbows!
Wow! That is so awesome.
Ok, you could have posted a Tissue Warning!
I love, love, love when God makes his presence known to us. It soothes the soul like nothing else can. I've been in really tough situations in the past and looking back I can see God's hand in the middle of them, clear as day. Things WILL get better for you and The Ladies. I know it, you know it, and God knows it :-)
Earlier this year we had a double rainbow...I took pictures...remind me to send 'em to you later. I got to church (where I was heading when I saw the double rainbow) and scads of people were standing outside, looking up, completely quiet and in awe. It was an awesome moment. He is an awesome God.
Amen!
Awww, yay! Rainbows always give me courage and often bring me to tears. What a great reminder of what God has done and what He will do!
A promise... Of that I'm sure.
Merry Christmas!!
What a sweet and wonderful story and picture! Isn't it amazing how things like that happen!
That? Is also awesome! May you be in the position to be an angel next year. And for many many years to come.
wicked cool
Goosebumps here, my friend. Awesome.
That's awesome!! I haven't seen a rainbow in ages. I think I'm damned.
Oh WOW!! That is awesome. God is so amazing!! Merry Christmas to you and the ladies!!
This is just beautiful!
This is true. It is A season in your life, you may be without money and in strained financial circumstances...but you are NOT poor. Why? Being "poor" in my book is more attitude than anything, it doesn't mean that you never feel that way...but rather when you do start feeling that way you have shown time and again that you pick yourself up and remind yourself that you will not always be in this circumstance. {HUG}
