To Be Honest - I'm a Romantic Fool

Yes. I woke up at 3:45 this morning. I got my children up and we watched the Royal Wedding. I adore weddings. The ceremony and the dresses and the tears and smiles and the flub ups. And being 39, I'm not at an age where I get to go to a lot of weddings. Most of my friends are married, but I'm not old enough (THANK YOU JESUS) to be going to weddings of my friends kids. So there's a dirth of them right now in my life, and that's one of the reasons why I really wanted to watch this today. I wanted to satisfy my voyeuristic urgings and see someone's happy moments.

I think, too, I had a few moments of thinking "Hmmm... maybe we WILL have a 'real' wedding when Mr. B and I get married." Then I thought about the $$ that one of those things costs, and I went back to being happy with the idea of a JOP.

And too... there's remembering when Diana got married. I was 8. I was in Kentucky on my way to Washington DC with my mom, grandma and great aunt. We were at a quintessential roadside motel, and we delayed the start of that days driving so I could watch the wedding. I remember her dress, and her crown... it was everything my little girl heart wanted it to be. And today, was everything my grown up heart wanted it to be.

I'm hoping there'll be a day when I can wake up early again with my daughters and their daughters to watch William & Kate's precious child have their special day!

To be honest- There's no way I would have gotten up to see it- even if we did have cable.

I hadn't planned on getting up but Yaya woke me up because she was thirsty. I turned on the tv and watched from the second half of the wedding til they road into Buckingham palace. I couldn't stay up to wait for the kiss. Had to watch the rest in replays. LOL

Loved it all. The sound of the croud cheering outside Westminster Abbey as they were proclaimed husband and wife. Their walk down the isle and out of the Abbey. I bawled like a baby thinking of all the little girls who've dreamed of being in Kate's shoes. Yaya is constantly searching for her "prince charming" and can't imagine what her parents and sister must be thinking.

I, too, am a romantic sap. I was late to work on Friday, so I could watch Kate and Wills exchange vows. The balcony kiss, though, with the flower girls captured in the snap, are the best, though, aren't they?

I watched too. Finn had a cold and woke up coughing around 5 am so we both got up and watched for a bit. I was little {about 5} when Diana got married, but I vividly remember seeing that dress and thinking all weddings were magical like that.

I didn't wake up early to watch the wedding, but watched it in the countless reruns. I did however wake up early to watch Diana's wedding.

The one thing I loved about Kate's wedding was that she actually looked happy. That is one thing that Diana never looked!
