2011 looks back at 2010

While I'm not really a resolution gal, I do have 3 I'm going to make. #1 - Drink 24 oz of water every day before I drink any Diet Mt. Dew (I love DMD... sometimes I walk into my house fully expecting my family to be there saying "It's us or the DMD). #2 - Exercise in some manner 5 times a week. Even if it's just using the Wii Fit. And #3 - blog 5 times a week. It doesn't need to be earth shattering or hysterically funny, just say SOMETHING. It's my way of journaling, and I need to keep up with it. So on that note I found this meme from my friend Angie.

1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?

Dealt with remodeling a house. I'd like to say I'm never going to do it again, but we already have plans to do some stuff to the master bathroom/girls bathroom, but BELIEVE me I've learned some lessons.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any last year. See the beginning of this post for resolutions for 2011.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Good grief... 2011 was the year of the baby, but no one REALLY close to me had a baby. Lots of friends and relatives did though.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
The Socialist State of Walmart. It wasn't pretty. Don't really care to go back.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
A diamond ring.

7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
February 26th is the day Mr. B closed on OUR house.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting control of my bills. And honestly - every day as a single mom

9. What was your biggest failure?
Gosh darn it... I don't want to go with failure... cause every failure is an opportunity....

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
It's been a pretty healthy year. Some colds... a sore back for a little bit....

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Well... Mr. B bought our house so I guess that doesn't count. Um.... I guess all the movie tickets I bought to take the ladies too, because those are wonderful times with my girls that I treasure.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Gert has kicked ASS in 2nd grade. She's got A's in every class, E's in every behavior aspect, in a gifted math class (with an A), gets her homework done on time or before time every day, she's made good friends in both school and after school, and she's a sweet, sweet girl. Essie is struggling in 6th grade. She starts going to resource classes on Tuesday. Every night is a struggle to get homework done. And she's got a teen attitude for sure. But she's a fighter. And gosh darn that girl got a 93 on her English term final! And a 90 on a HUGE end of semester project. And she still says this is the best school she's ever gone to, and she STILL goes to school every morning without fussing (which is a new things this year). She's walking a much different road than her sister, and it makes me sad that her route seems to be harder, but I KNOW she will come out on the other side a strong, strong woman. I'm so proud of both of them.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
People I work for. Nepotism, stupid choices, favoritism, and spreading outrageous lies about employees. Ugh.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills, bills, bills and eating out way too much.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Though the process has been a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ARSE, watching my visions for the house come to fruition has been REALLY exciting. Seeing what I thought MIGHT be a good idea turn into a REALLY GOOD IDEA has been awesome.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
"Just the Way You Are" Bruno Mars

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a)happier or sadder; b)thinner or fatter; c)richer or poorer?
Happier, fatter and poorer. That says something doesn't it?

18. What do you wish you had done more of?
Organizing and cleaning.

19. What do you wish you had done less of?
Watching TV

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas eve was with Mr. B and my mom and I at Kat's house. Christmas day I got my babies back and we redid Christmas Eve.

21. Did you fall in love in 2010?
I feel FURTHER in Love. Each day with Mr. B in my life I fall deeper and deeper in love with him.

22. What was your favorite tv program?
Glee..... and I LOVE watching with Mr. B.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate's a pretty strong word, but I really don't like the people I work for (see above)

24. What was the best book you read?
"Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Bruno Mars and The Beezlebubs

26. What did you want and get?
A Cricut cutting machine and... a house.

27. What did you want and not get?
A piece of paper.

28. What was your favorite film of 2010?
Toy Story 3

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
38 and honestly... I don't really remember what I did.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
That piece of paper.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept of 2010?
HA HA HA.... "personal fashion concept".... "whatever the hell still fits"

32. What kept you sane?
Mr. B.

33. What political issue stirred you the most?
Oh good grief... what didn't? In general I'm just tired of the growing chasm between Reps & Dems in Washington, that I don't feel accurately reflects the much smaller chasm between Reps & Dems in the "real world"

34. Who did you miss?
Lots of people... moving to a new place means you get to miss a lot of people.

35. Who was the best new person you met?
Julia for sure.

36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.
Have patience, have patience......

37. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
When I see your face
There’s not a thing that I would change
Cause you’re amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
Cause girl you’re amazing
Just the way you are

I think "Just the Way You Are" is a brilliant choice for your song that reminds you of 2010. Also, I hope you get that ring and piece of paper in 2011!
