The One Where I Almost Say the N Word But I Don't

Have you seen this article? "Should Fatties Get a Room, Even on TV"

Fatties. FATTIES????

Now, thankfully, the writer got an earful (comment section full) of backlash and "you should be ashamed of yourself." But she's also got columns dated the following 2 days. So clearly she's still employed by Marie Claire.

Let's change the title a few times...

"Should Chinks Get a Room, Even on TV"

"Should Fags Get a Room, Even on TV"

"Should Camel Jockeys Get a Room, Even on TV"

Fatties? SERIOUSLY???

There's all kinds of talk going around about bullying. I'd say 90% of it is regarding bullying of kids regarding their sexual preferences. But I can tell you for sure there are WAY more kids out there being teased and bullied because of their size.

Fatties. FATTIES. FATTIES?????!!!!!!!

I just can't even imagine a magazine (other than like... KKK Monthly) allowing their writers to be so... so.... gosh what even is the word? So mean? So hateful? So biased? I mean... even Fox News isn't THAT mean. And while there's been plenty of backlash regarding this article, I think it's fair to say if her article had been titled any of my "suggested" titles, then Marie Claire would be facing a boycott to end all boycotts, and there would be all kinds of 6 o'clock news leading stories about the outrage.

But it's ok to pick on the "Fatties" because we "choose" to be this way. Because if we just wanted to, we could be 110 pounds, we just don't want to. So we're fair game.

Boys and girls - can we say "Double Standard"

I did read the article, and what Jezebel wrote after the article.

http://jezebel.com/5673680/what-was-marie-claire-thinking-with-this-fatties-piece

The part that pisses ME off is that she NEVER watched the show the article was "discussing". That show isn't about fatties; it's about people. Yes, there are jokes about being fat but the fat people are the ones who MAKE the jokes.

Can I now be put-off by skinny people kissing on TV? Just because my ass is big doesn't mean I can't be loved by someone. She's an ignorant fool; I hope her plump friends don't take offense.

Wow.

We women seem to constantly struggle with our body image and the media is to blame.

(I just read where she added to what she wrote and it does seem heartfelt. )

It's so very sad.

I have been reading so much online lately about the bullying gay teens are dealing with. My favorite being a you-tube video where a guy asked if gays choose to be like they are - and then asks "so...when did you choose to be straight?"

And then with this article, I am feeling a little pushed over the edge. Especially from her weight loss advice in the middle of this "article." Because yeah, I surely want to take some advice from her. Or buy Marie Claire magazine. And then based on the comments they are getting, maybe they are realizing that their subscribers are not all size 2s.

Absolutely ridiculous. Doesn't this "writer" (and trust me I'm using that term loosely)do any kind of fact-checking before writing? Obviously not b/c little miss size 2 is in the MINORITY as the average size is 12/14. People like that should not have a public forum to spew their kind of ignorance.

As for THIS Fattie, I have a Fattie husband who loves me...ALL of me.
