The Ladies and my mom and I went to the Minnesota Zoo a few weeks back. We decided to ride on the Monorail, so we bought our tickets and went to wait for the next one to arrive. There weren't a whole lot of benches to sit on to wait, but they were covered up in kids and young adult types. Now... my mom is by no means elderly, but if those were MY kids, they would have been told to get up off the benches and let others sit on them.
Then we got on the monorail and the driver does his whole little shpiel over the intercom, but we can't HEAR it because these girls sitting behind us are talking about going out the night before and getting hammered and how they want to do it again and then dropped a few f-bombs. Seriously... in an enclosed train at a ZOO???????
Don't even get me started about the drivers in Atlanta. Rude to a power higher than I know how to count to.
Then tonight I'm at Curriculum night at the Ladies school. We started the evening in the lunchroom with the PTA president talking, then the Principal talking and introducing the staff. So, while the PTA president is talking, all the teachers are back there yapping to each other and just in general being SO RUDE! The acoustics in a lunchroom aren't great to begin with, and then to have that general buzz going on.
SIGH
Seriously... when did we all get so self centered and rude?
Ugh.

I may not be the queen of manners...OK - I'm totally not and I don't know who I'm kidding with that first thought...but I digress. My point (because, you know, I *do* have one) is that people are getting more and more rude. It seems that we, as a society, totally accept it; no one is up there saying, "HEY! You're being rude!" (of course, that in and of itself might be misconstrued as rude, but...)!
I am in complete agreement with you. What the heck is wrong with some people?! Sorry to hear about all this.
Seriously! What is wrong with people!!
Nothing makes me angrier than adults swearing in front of kids. I totally with you on the inner grandma thing. I get the same way.
I was just about to text you and ask about curriculum night. At our school, I was sitting at the PTA table signing people up (got to get to that 100%!)...and parents keep coming in. Long after the meeting starts. And even after the meeting part is over...and parents are dismissed to the classrooms...parents still keep coming in. Not being on time...that I have issues with.
And yep. Drivers here are notoriously rude. Don't follow the rules. And drive really, really, really fast...
Want to know where I learned to drive defensively as well as aggresively? A T L A N T A!!
Rude is beginning to be our middle name. I have been known to ask people to be quiet so I can hear, to pull their pants up because I and my granddaughter do not to see all of their business, and if anything else seems to be out of order in my little life, I have no problem correcting it. Not in a rude manner now mind you, just in a way that they understand that I mean business. Like the day I was in line at a grocery store and the boys behind me were dropping the F bomb every other word. I just turned around and very politely told them they were polluting my ears. Have to stand up for ourselves once in a while. I would have loved to have been able to tell the teachers to quiet down so I could hear.
OOPs, my granddaughter was signed into my computer.
Ah Lizzy ... I've been catching up on your blog. Sorry to go MIA most of the summer. But I did miss you! Your post about the Health Department is classic! This post on rude people ... ditto. I cannot agree more. I have trained my kids to be polite. It's now second nature and you wouldn't believe how many complements I get when my son holds open doors for ladies or my 4 year old says "yes Ma'am." Simple little things. It seriously makes the world a more tolerable place.
Please give Kori a hug from me. Tell her my love and prayers are with her and the boys.
NO TURN SIGNALS....I can not read MINDS but it seems that drivers here think that I can! I have an inner Grandmother TOOO right now. MY list is LONG! I totally Agree with you people are RUDE or I am just getting OLD and want to CALL them on it!
Hope you and the Ladies are doing WELL! Take care!
I totally agree. I can't get over how rude people are these days. I hate it that people don't make eye contact with you. I hate people who drive down the middle of residential streets, leaving no room for you, who are travelling in the wrong direction. I hate seeing parents set bad examples of public behavior for their kids. I hate it when we go to a major league baseball game a get stuck by people who proceed to get drunk and swear constantly. So there you have it. My Saturday rant. Have a great day! :-)
I know, what ever happened to common decency?
I would have made my kids get up for anybody older than them (besides other kids) It's respect and that's whats lacking in our world
