The One About the Drool

You may have an inkling about my love for all things plaid. Seriously... the extent to which I love plaid ALMOST knows no bounds. I will admit that there are some plaids out there that just don't... do it for me.

It may interest you to know that my love for plaid is most likely genetic. I can trace my ancestry back to Clan McCloud/MacLeod in Scottland, and as we know, the Scotts are famous for their plaids (Tartans).

Here are the MacLeod tartans:

I LOVE the "Green" one - the yellow and black is a little bit bumble beeish for me, but I still like it.

I have a plaidar. Put me in a big old store with hundreds and hundreds of items, my eye will go directly to the plaid first. Every time. Ask Kat (and while you're asking her about that, ask her if she's ever going to blog... again... ever.....) ... or Mr. B... they know.

So the other day I was sitting down to watch a little of the old boob tube, and of course I went to my default channel - HGTV. They were doing a series of holiday decorating shows so I knew I was good to go for a while. Glittler, glitz, bling, romance, homemade, classic, retro... they showed it all.

And then.... I looked up... and paid attention. And saw....

This is Kathie Lee Gifford's study/family room (they call it the "pub"). OH MY GOSH. DO you see - the CEILING is plaid!!!! The chairs are plaid. It's ALL plaid. I come so very close to swooning. If I'd had me a good plaid fainting couch, I so would have. Then I started thinking how I could pull this off in a room in our new house... and I probably can't - you need the high ceilings and such (though don't think I'm not giving serious thought to throwing away all design convention and do something like that to my craft room...) Here's a link to the designers blog post about his inspiration for what he did.

He also then showed these FABULOUS plaid ornaments that he made. And now I make. And I'll be back in the next couple days with a post telling how you TOO can make them and pay proper homage to all things plaid.

I love how you love plaid. It MUST be the Scottish heritage, for sure!

(I'm not crazy about the yellow tartan, either.)

Sigh. I don't know the answer to that question! I like the idea of it. But I just don't know when it would happen. Maybe when you get that craft room up and going...maybe when I make it my scrapbooking room. Somehow I might be inspired. Maybe.

And you know that the plaid is contagious. My children now have plaidar!

I enjoyed this post. It takes me back to my first days of following you and why I fell in love with your blog. I just love your sense of humor.

Seriously, WHEN is Kat coming back.I miss that lady. And how fun is that room?! There has got to be a way you can pull something similar off.

I love plaid, too. Not as much as you, but I do love it.

I also love wallpaper, but it is so blasted expensive and a pain to hang. I would have wall paper in my entire house if I could afford it. And one room would, no doubt, be plaid.

I cannot help but think of you when I see plaid. That room was meant for you Lizzie...I think you should write to Kathie Lee and see if she can hook you up!

The awesome plaid room must be a booby prize for having to be Kathie Lee Gifford.
