And you are?

Well apparently I took some time off.

I'm here... now... with a whole new set of Sharpies, envisioning American Idol recaps.

December's been crazy. I started my new position with my company. It's a bit of a new position and so I'm having to kind of make it up as I go along. Which is fun, but the constant fear of disappointing people or forgetting to do something important scares me!!

December's also been hell for Essie. She's failing math, and pretty much her school is being a giant bunch of dicks about it. I don't even have the energy to go into it all, but her vice principal called me, bitched about Essie and what a slacker she is for about 45 minutes, THEN revealed that Essie had been sitting in her office the whole time, listening. Bitch. I spent the 45 minutes trying to tell her that I think Essie has a learning disability in Math, and I want her tested, and she spent the 45 minutes trying to talk me out of it.... it was OBVIOUS that her ONLY concern was her schools' test scores, not Essie. She better not meet me in a dark alley.

Christmas was lovely. We went to Kat's church for a lovely service, and then to her house for baked ziti and lots of fun. It was a WONDERFUL way to spend Christmas Eve. Not our "usual" but I think probably even better.

Then we came home and Mr. B came over the gift opening. We all were spoiled. I got a new Snuggie from my mom, which was hysterical because she had JUST opened up the snuggie I gave HER. That was a great laugh. Mr. B totally spoiled me with a new laptop, a Wii Fit, and Margarita glasses that have cactus' for the stems, which the girls have been DYING to have.

My mom is here. It's nice to have her here, but this is a one bedroom apartment with 4 people in it at the moment. It's just too much. And she's been living on her own for 20 years, and just.. honestly she's not good at living with people anymore. So I'm actually looking forward to work tomorrow.

Today is DEFINITELY that "blah" holiday day. So much I just want to snap my fingers and be able to change. Damn, being powerless sucks doesn't it.

I hope you all had wonderful Christmases!

Hey there friend! Sorry I've been MIA lately also. Sounds like you had a pretty decent holiday. Yay!

Let me know if you need any help in that dark alley. School employees like that need some schooling themselves. Geesh. Hope Essie gets what she needs to make math less frustrating!

Poor Essie! I agree. You need help "educating" that school administrator just give us all a ring. She doesn't have a CHOICE. If you request her to be tested, she has to do it whether it is convenient or not. Contact your school district and ask for the name of the testing coordinator's name. Talk to your school counselor. I would most definitely report that administrator for talking about Essie in front of Essie. She violated every "code" there was in doing that.

Sounds like you had a nice Christmas! I'm glad!

Go Deanna! What she said.

We love Mr. B! :-) And also that he's YOURS.

LOL! Okay....I know you didn't really mean to be funny, but your brutal honesty was so refreshing to read. (Family and the holidays=major drama!) I'm so sorry about Essie; poor little thing should not have heard the principal talking like that about her. Keep being Mama Bear for her. And remember how I said your blog had disappeared? Uh....yah....apparently I typoed the address in my shortcuts. LOL!! SO glad it isn't gone!!

Hey Lizzy, glad to see you back.

First order of bidness, you need to call the school district and complain about the administrator who had your daughter present when caller her a slacker. That's so totally unnecessary.
2nd, glad you had a good Christmas, it's a good thing that Mr. B spoils you. Tell him to keep it up....and I'm glad you got to see your mom.
If the job is new and you get to make it up, what a blessing. I think you are a lot like me. If you don't have something to worry about, you go borrow it. HAHHAHAHAHAHA. Hope you have a great week at work.

Someone needs to tell that Vice Principal to stop being a slacker and DO HER JOB. And it's pretty obvious she could use a course in self-esteem and how NOT to ruin it.

Sheesh. I hate people like that.

Sounds like you had a good Christmas and since you have a new set of Sharpies I expect to see some Lizzy artwork very soon!

Welcome back - glad you are well.

Not that I need to tell you this, but I'm going to! LOL! FIGHT FOR ESSIE! You are her only advocate. You are the only one who truly cares about her success in school. Fight for the testing. Yes, it's a total PITA, but in the end, if there *is* a problem, it'll be worth it. As a teacher, I know what a pain mods can be, but I also know how great it is to see a student become successful; that child's entire outlook changes. It's amazing. So fight and raise hell. And - be prepared for it to take a full year before you see ANY progress or changes from the school. Sorry, but it happens that way a lot.

It sounds like you had a great Christmas! I hope you have a great New Years Planned!!

Test Scores is all we hear where we live. CRCT this and CRCT that.
Georgia needs to start stop with all the CRCT Crap and be more concerned about the Students. My little guy hates school here so much. He cries every morning..he also has had a rough year. His teacher is a meany...she will not give him his snack if he does not finish his morning work. I have been to the princpal about it but now he is just in more trouble. SO I would be obliged to help you out in the dark alley and maybe we could take on the no snack giver and principal of my school...LOL!

Again Happy New Year!

I'm going to echo everyone who said to insist that Essie be tested and to complain about the administrator. What she did was completely wrong.

I'm glad you got some nice presents, though. Have a good week and a happy New Year.

Poor Essie. My heart is breaking for her. School is hard enough without creeps like that beeyatch making it worse. Maybe Kat knows some people who could help?

Have you moved into the house yet? I'm dying to hear all about it. Oh, and when are the plaid bridesmaids dresses going to be needed? Just wondering...

Congrats on the new job! What are you doing now? I'm so glad to see things finally going your way a bit.

Everything else sounds great!

oh how I wish I were closer!!! I'd tutor her in the evenings and if I couldn't help her understand that math, then Dh sure could. {HUG}

A laptop, a Wii Fit, cactus margarita glasses AND a Snuggie? Nice haul.

That vice principal sounds like a complete tool. What is a person like that doing in education?

Nezzy (Cow Patty Surprise) said...

I'm so jealous, you got a Wii Fit. My best exercise plan is runnin' from wild eyed cattle. I guess whatever works. Heeeeheehe!!! I'm so happy ya'll had a good Christmas. The snuggie story is too funny. Hubby and I got each-other the same card. Funny, it's so not the first time this has happened.

Ya'll have a wonderful New Year!!!

Sounds like a great Christmas!

I'd like to knock the taste out of the vice principal's mouth.

I'd be ready for Momma to leave too, no matter how much ya love family, it just comes a "go home" point.

Happy New Year!!

Happy new year, and it's great to see you back!

I am so sorry about Essie's teacher. That sucks!! I had a hard time with math too about her age, and it became quite the issue for my parents. They ended up getting me a tutor, which I absolutely hated, but I think in the end it was helpful to me.

Meanwhile, on the laptop and wii fit - Go Mr. B!! Awesome and I am sure you will enjoy both!

I can't wait to see your Sharpified Ellen.....:) Just sayin.....Loved seeing you yesterday.

I haven't read the whole post or all of the comments, and realize I'm late to the party...but if a parent requests testing, the school must comply and get the ball rolling in TEN DAYS! I would submit my request in writing, if it hasn't already been addressed. Give a copy to the classroom teacher, the principal and the counselor.
Now I should read the rest. ;)
