E is for......

It's Wednesday!! It feels like Friday!! I get to head out on the road today.

First things first. My friend Susan is having a CT scan this morning. Please pray that they'll be able to figure out what's up and be able to FIX it.

Okay... now onto the FUN. There's a meme running around where you do 10 of your favorite things but they have to start with a certain letter. Kind of like Maria from The Sound of Music plays Scattergories. Well, my friend (and Thanksgiving hostess... am I mentioning that too much?? I'm just REALLY excited) Kat gave me the letter E! So... here I go!

My 10 Favorite things that Start with the Letter E!!

1. Elizabeth - THAT'S ME!!!! I DO like me!! Some days not so much, and there's certainly work to be done, but there are parts of me that I like, a lot. My sense of humor, my compassionate nature and my... WAIT!!! Oooo something else that starts with E...

2. Elbows - mine specifically. I've lost about 80 pounds in the last couple years, but before that, I always loved my elbows because there were the one place on my body where you could prove there actually WERE bones under all that blubber. I still love my elbows... and actually kinda have a thing for them in general.

3. Easter - I'm a Christian. Christmas is good, but useless without Easter. Easter is what saved me.

4. E-mail - Oh how I love e-mail... checking it, sending it... laughing at the subject lines in spam. And I always think of my wonderful Gram when she asked about probably 89-years-old "What is this eeeelectronic mail I hear about?"

5. Engagement rings - Don't get all excited, I don't have one yet. But the first time around I had no input into my ring and never really liked it. How arrogant and classless is that? But i didn't... and I know Mr. B wants me to have what I want.

6. Escalators/Elevators - Gert used to call Escalators "Escavators" which is a nice blend of the two. You know how as a kid you LOVED riding the elevators - racing to push the button... and escalators? Yeah.. I've never really lost that love....

7. Encyclopedias - When I was 13 my mom got me a set of World Book Encyclopedias. That was some major money back then (amazing that the whole Encyclopedia thing has been just been obliterated by the Internet). I LOVED picking out a letter and just pouring through the book. That set was long ago sold at a garage sale, but it was a very special gift, and really began my love of knowledge (and useless trivia).

8. Employee Benefits - I like them. I'd like some.

9. Eighties - I was a child of the 80's. Hair bands, pinned jeans, shaker sweaters, Michael Jackson, friendship pins, big hair, parachute pants, Swatches, Merlins, The Brat Pack, upturned collars, Nikes, Reebok hightops, neon clothing, jelly shoes, giant hoop earrings, Liz Claiborne perfume, Cabbage Patch Kids, mootsies tootsies, New Coke (whoops), Prince, polka dots, denim jackets, Rubiks Cubes, penny loafers (with no socks), "Where's the Beef", Miami Vice, banana clips, John Hughs movies, Trivial Pursuit, boom boxes, Sony Walkmans, Members Only jackets, California Raisins..... I could go on. The 80's had STYLE!!

10. Estrella's... Yeah, it's a stretch but seriously, I was having trouble. I adore laying out and watching the stars, and even more I love being up in Canada and seeing the northern lights... that's an incredible experience!!

Okay for better or for worse there's my ten. Wanna play along? I'll assign you a letter if you like!!!

If you don't want to play along, at least tell me your favorite 80's fad!!!!

First... good thoughts and wishes headed to your friend Susan~

Last week while at the bookstore, I bought an Encyclopedia Brown: Boy Detective book for Drama (did you ever read those as a kid? I did... loved 'em)... anyhoo, I had to explain to her what an encyclopedia is and why it's his nickname. I'm not sure she got it.

Oh how I love the 80s! You forgot Trapper Keepers! I used to LOVE shopping for school supplies at the start of the new school year... and getting to pick out my new Trapper Keeper!

Great list Lizzy! Love the Eighties too!

And where did you say you were going for Thanksgiving? I think I missed that. LOL

Lovely list. When I saw your #1 I chuckled. my kids, whenever they spell their names, end it with "that's me!" just like you did. Maybe we are related? hahaha

My favorite 80s fad is parachuts pants! I LOVED them. I rememebr I had a pair or two. My favorite pair was a wine colored with gold zippers. I was rocking the parachute pants in the 5-7th grades.

I want to play. If you assign me a letter I will do it as a meme monday.

Have a great thanksgiving!

Gimme a G- or any other letter you like.
I laughed about the elbows- because I seriously like buying shoes. Feet don't gain weight, either.
I wear Liz now. Is there something wrong with me? Jonah tells me that I smell like mommy when I wear it.
I got tho ride on the coat tails of the early '80's, I was 5 in 1980.

I totally want to play! What letter can I have?

You mentioned Mootsies Tootsies. Remember Sam & Libby? They were pretty popular too. Flats with bows. So 80's/early 90's.

I loved those capri leggings that only look good when you are twelve with no calves.

My favorite thing about the eighties has got to be the movies!! Can you even stay dry eyed after watching "Sixteen Candles", "Breakfast Club", or "Say Anything"? Happy Thanksgiving Lizzie!!!

Eggs, egg noodles, eggshell white painted walls, E.T....these are a few of my favorite "E" things.

I like yours. I'm playing on Friday, my letter is "F". Gotta think about this one. At least it wasn't "Q".

Have a great day tomorrow! I just know you will!

My kids still fight over who pushes the button in the elevator. I just started hitting it when we get in. And then they just glare at me the whole ride. But there is no fighting :-)

And the eighties. I am a child of the eighties. And what would the 80's be without John Hughes and the CLASSIC movies. 16 Candles. Pretty in Pink. Breakfast Club. Sigh.

And then there is Duran Duran. I have got to do an 80's post!

And when you are bored...email me and I'll get you the link to a friend of mine's blog. And she has an extreme love for the 80's. I think you'd like her...

I was so busy keeping up with Tricia and Gina, as well as their four other siblings that I barely remember the 80's. I do hear from many people that they were good years though. Gotta just trust they know what they are talking about.
I could use a letter also. Please not X though. Who would be able to think of 10 x things? Or z for that matter.

Man I ROCKED the Big Hair in the 80's. I'm one of those lame-o's that wishes big hair would come back in style before I'm too old to wear it LOL. It looked good on me.

I always wanted a piggyback spiral perm (remember those? with the long spiral curls?) but I could never grow my hair long enough to do one that looked good. Now that my hair is down to my hips, they're not in style. Hmmpf.

Thanks to you (and others!!) for the well wishes for my CAT scan. It was.....eventful. I'll blog about it next.

Oh you know I was ALL about the 80s! My favorite part of the 80s was the MUSIC! Duran Duran, MTV etc........

I'll play if you wanna give me a letter! :D

Hoping your friend's CT scan went well and was helpful in determining the issue so she can be treated properly and get well soon!

I'm an Easter girl too.

The 80's--well, in the early 80's I was in college, preppy was in style which meant my monogrammed shetland wool (purple!) sweater--and another pink one that had a PLAID skirt to go with it. With knee highs and penny loafers, if my memory serves me correctly (BIG if). And a peacoat.

Hunh. That was quite a few lifetimes ago!

This is a fun meme--I'll take a letter!

I'm trying to remember. I know I loved Magnum P.I. Maybe late 70's.
Don't know.
Also, I always wanted a Nissan 300ZX that rose colored one. That was a hot car in the 80's. Never got one, but I loved the look of that car.

I miss "feathering" my hair.
